How to Make a Daisy Fruit Bouquet

 

Supplies :

A clean, beautiful pot

Floral foam

Homemade play dough

Cookie cutters - daisy, flower, 2” round, small star

Bamboo skewers

 

Groceries :

Grapes, red and green

Jicama(large)

Pineapple

Honeydew

Watermelon

Papaya

Strawberries

Chocolate

 

 

Several days ahead:

 

Place a block of floral foam in the bottom of your pot. Cover with a 2” layer of homemade play dough. Cover with plastic wrap until ready to use.

 

 

One day ahead:  

• Peel jicama and slice into 1/2" slices. Cut into daisy shapes with daisy cookie cutteror by hand. (Pattern available here.) Cut out center with 2” cookie or biscuit cutter.
• Slice pineapple into 1/2” slices and cut round circles with cookie cutter.
• Wash and dry strawberries. Dip tips in chocolate, if desired, and place upside down on wax paper. Refrigerate.
• Slice watermelon into 1/2” slices and cut with flower cookie cutter.
• Slice honeydew in wedges and remove peel. Cut each slice in half.  
• Peel papaya and slice into 1/3” sections. Cut circles and stars from papaya.  
• Place all fruit in containers and refrigerate overnight. (The watermelon will drip if it is cut the day you make the bouquet.)

 

Putting it all together takes about 20 minutes (this part is SO MUCH FUN!):

 

Place fruit on pointed end of skewers (cut skewers to desired length) and insert into play dough and foam. To hold watermelon flower in place put a grape on the skewer just below the flower. The bouquet can be wrapped loosely with plastic wrap for transport or storage in refrigerator. 

 

 

Variation:

 

To simplify ingredients, a bouquet of several jicama and pineapple daisies with honeydew leaves makes a gorgeous presentation. Try adding some skewers stacked with green or red grapes for variety. Stars can also be made out of pineapple or yellow cheese.
